McAfee Buys Hacker Safe by ScanAlert
$51 million to acquire ScanAlert. ScanAlert is the maker of Hacker Safe the website security certification (PCI Scanning) service. McAfee forks over this much money, also in the deal another $24 million if defined performance marks are met. McAfee will join Hacker Safe with the SiteAdvisor program offered in their services.
Dave DeWalt, CEO and president of McAfee, says:
“This will create the industry’s only service that helps consumers stay safe as they search, surf and now shop.”
What does this mean to the Trust Seal, and Website Verification industry? Well it is hard to say, yes McAfee gives the Hacker Safe customers a big name but will it make a difference? Will McAfee provide more services with the website security certification industry other than just PCI Scanning? Time will tell.
